I carried a 'diary' with me on blowouts and fires when I worked for Boots Hansen and Coots Matthews in the 1990's. My friends, David...
"MYTH" BUSTER NO. 19
For each basin, a lateral length efficiency curve is created using the relative performance degradation for increasing well lengths when comparing against the results from wells with 5,000 ft. This study reveals that increasing well lengths does not result in proportionate production gains. In fact, in some basins a 2-mile-long lateral only produces 85% of the normalized production of 1-mile-long laterals. We also find that the size of the completions job can influence the shape of the lateral length efficiency curve. Novi
The (Permian) basin was also expected to increase natural gas production next month, rising by 466 million cubic feet per day in February to a total of 21.7 billion cubic feet per day, making the region the second-largest gas-producing basin in the U.S.,
according to the EIA report.

I may make data related mistakes occasionally; if you use my opinions about oil reserves or shale well economics for financial purposes, to buy or sell stocks, your nuts. Don't do that. If I have used a photograph incorrectly it was for educational purposes and I have done my best of to give credit where credit is due. My stories are all true, slightly embellished, perhaps, but true; I don't change names to protect the guilty. I am as accurate as possible about history and historical facts; I work very hard at that. All rights are reserved, whatever that means. Don't blame me, I didn't do it.
